About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Electronics Technician NJ-0856-04 to work at 96 RANSS, at Eglin AFB.
In this position you will serve as senior technician, responsible for carrying out assignments in support of research and development activities. These activities involve the design, development, and testing in such areas as new components and sub-assemblies, special systems and subsystems, state-of-the-art electronic data systems and other similar projects. Assignments are characterized as extremely complex requiring a thorough knowledge of electronic systems design, mathematics, computer data and acquisition systems, test and measurement techniques, and high degree of personal initiative and creativity. Designs, modifies, and fabricates experimental equipment, components and sub-assemblies for performing applied engineering experiments. Designs test plans, procedures, and setups to test electronic components, circuits, units and devices where documentation is or nonexistent.

Major Duties:
Responsible for carrying out assignments in support of research and development activities.
Responsible for the design, development, and testing of new components, sub-assemblies, special systems/Sub-Systems
Designs, modifies, and fabricates experimental equipment, components and sub-assemblies for prototype development
Plans design approach, assuring that the design is compatible with other parts of the equipment or system.
Designs test procedures to test electronic components, circuits, units where there is no info
Provides tech support to engineers for design and development of unique output/ inputs
Assists design new systems/subsystems for use in conjunction with simulated weapon systems
Develops procedures to for safe operating of unique and special equipment, weapon systems
Designs test setups including hardware and software systems and prototypes/experiments
Coordinates with and assists system engineering personnel in defining/solving specific problems
Devises/implements/monitors, where required, performs evaluation tests to ensure sys operation
Researches system specifications and recommends maintenance procedure modifications
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- Occasional Travel
- Indoor and outdoor work at equipment sites requires frequent walking, kneeling, bending, prolonged standing, working in strained and uncomfortable positions, and lifting/carrying moderate (15-44 lbs.).
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Outdoor work sometimes performed in inclement weather or limited light conditions.
- Knowledge of the techniques and theories characteristic of electronics
- Ability to apply electronics knowledge to engineering processes and functions such as design, development, testing and maintenance
- Ability to read engineering plans and specifications
- Knowledge of engineering drafting principles, methods, and techniques
- Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures
- Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain good working relations.
