About the Role:
The 96 MXS, Eglin AFB, PMEL, is currently seeking to fill Three Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic, WG-2602-11 positions. These are full-time positions with an hourly pay range of: $34.78– $40.74 (includes locality rate).
The purpose of these positions is to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, test, and calibrate a variety of standard and nonstandard test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.

Desired Skills:
Candidate must have 4-6 years laboratory equipment calibration experience.
Completed Metrology certification course.
Proficient computer program skills such as Microsoft excel and word.
Major Duties:
Duty 1: Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies, tests, calibrates, and certifies a variety of standard and nonstandard complex electronic, physical dimensional test equipment.
Duty 2: Coordinates efforts with technical and professional personnel on matters affecting equipment performance, test objectives, and calibration/certification reliability and effectiveness.
Duty 3: Maintains records and documents actions.
Duty 4: Provides advice and technical assistance to supported organizations.
Duty 5: Uses and maintains tools.
Duty 6: Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to preemployment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
- Requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid government driver’s license is required for this position
- May work rotating shifts or uncommon tours of duty. Subject to call back to meet emergency situations.
- May be required to obtain an appropriate clearance to perform the work in sensitive areas.
- Frequently lifts and carries, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes it is required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires working in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
- Practical application of calibration and certification principles related to the field of metrology, calibration traceability, accuracy ratios, measurement capability assessments, calibration technical data principles, root cause analysis procedures, and impact of operating condition environment on calibration accuracy and certification.
- Comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles related to equipment, which is combined and interrelated with other devices and complicated by a variety of multicomponent assemblies and devices with intricate functional relationships to understand the interaction of other circuits, which create a malfunction.
- Practical application of such operating principles as the production and utilization of oscillations over a broad range of frequencies; signal and waveform behavior, distortion, and amplification; pulse, trigger, and synchronization techniques; digital/analog processing and data conversion techniques; and a variety of display and indication methods in troubleshooting and repairing electronic test equipment.
