About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Aircraft Configuration Control/Scheduling Assistant (NK-0303-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Test Engineering Group, 812th Aircraft Instrumentation Test Squadron, Modification Flight (812 AITS/ENIM) at Edwards AFB.

In this position you will be required to provide scheduling, configuration control, and T-2 Aircraft Modification process expertise in order to effectively and safely execute T-2 modifications for all aircraft that are under the Configuration Control Board (CCB) control of the AFTC at EAFB.  Maintain accurate and complete electronic T-2 modification data packages for all T-2 modifications.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $65,148 - $103,006 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Approximately 5 days per year.

Major Duties:

- Maintains T2 Modification configuration/documentation control on all AFTC assigned aircraft and updates records to reflect and track all installed modifications.

- Reviews and interprets publications, operating instructions, and processes promulgated by DoD, USAF, AFMC, AFTC, and 412TW organizations concerning regulatory requirements.

- T-2 modification process expert. Resolves complex problems which involve advising engineering, maintenance and contracting activities regarding processes for preparing, approving and installing T-2 modifications.

- Gathers T-2 modification project/scheduling data from project managers and electronic planning systems to plan and coordinate the scheduling of aircraft down-time and project future required maintenance support (crew chiefs, avionics, weight and balance, maintenance personnel etc.) for multiple platforms to effectively execute T-2 modifications.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a Security clearance
  • Knowledge of maintenance activities, engineering functions and project planning/scheduling, and their relationship with aircraft modifications.
  • Knowledge of government guidelines, regulations, processes, instructions and supplements relating to T-2 modifications.
  • Knowledge of aircraft scheduling/tracking systems, project scheduling systems and ability to input data, collect, interpret, combine and brief this data.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations, communication, and dealing effectively with others.
  • Ability to analyze processes and methods to apply general principles to specific situations when not specifically covered by guidelines..
