About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Lead General Engineer (NH-0801-03) to work for the 412 Test Wing, 775 Test Squadron, GNI & Mission Planning Flight (775 TS/ENVA) at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), TX.

The primary purpose of this position is: to provide technical leadership and management in planning, analyzing, and reviewing test and evaluation efforts; to serve as a senior professional engineer responsible for test engineering activities in assigned programs/projects. Provide lead engineering and matrix rater functions for teams of engineers in various discipline areas. Considered a technical expert for the organization in test engineering assignments. Employee applies advanced multidisciplinary engineering techniques and management principles to determine optimum test approaches and procedures for achieving program test and evaluation objectives, and/or to determine operational or technical adequacy of item or system requirements or specifications.

Typical 2026 salary range: $90,823 - $140,403 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY)

Desired Skills:

- Experience interfacing and briefing military, civilian, and/or contractor senior leadership desired.

- 5 or more years of test experience demonstrating expertise in multiple engineering disciplines.   

- Possess extensive insight of 412 TW test, safety, and reporting processes, as well as, expert knowledge of DOW acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.

- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate test with a multi-disciplinary team and coordinate with other base, Air Force, and DOW organizations.

Major Duties:

- Builds and leads an integrated, multi-disciplinary team in support of test and evaluation programs.

- Performs a broad range of multidisciplinary professional engineering work to manage test and evaluation (T&E) efforts for assigned programs.

- Applies expert knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to modify and extend theories and/or practices in the specialty field.

- Develops metrics and interprets analysis and results to ascertain needed changes or modifications to test and evaluation programs.

- Serves as a consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.

- Participates in planning conferences, prepares management reports, and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action.

- Ability to maintain good working relations and to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to personnel as well as project management oversight.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • B.S. in Engineering - (program accredited by ABET)
  • Knowledge of a wide range of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced multidisciplinary engineering theories and concepts to test and evaluation activities and advisory services.
  • Knowledge of the principles of system engineering and program management to ensure system requirements, interfaces, capabilities, and program factors are considered in planning, monitoring, and reviewing tests and test results.
  • Skill in negotiating and/or defending test results, test program concepts, and in communicating with technical accuracy.
  • Ability to execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints; to gather, assemble, analyze facts, form conclusions, devise and recommend solutions to problems; and work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
