About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Data Scientist (NH-1560-02T03) to work at the 412 Test Wing, 412 Test Engineering Group, 812 Test Support Squadron, Statistical Methods Flight (812 TSS/ENTR) at Edwards Air Force Base.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the expert for the organization in general engineering assignments concerning data analytics supporting engineering analysis and decision support.

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490 - $161,313 per year (includes Locality)
Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel

Desired Skills:
- Fluency in coding languages including Python, R, and SQL.
- A strong foundation in statistics, machine/deep learning, data mining, and data wrangling.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and generative and agentic AI frameworks.
- Experience in flight test and both solving and communicating complex problems.
Major Duties:
- Apply a range of analytical, mathematical, and/or statistical theories, principles, and practices to plan, coordinate, and execute segments of complex studies.
- Compiles, organizes, and analyzes data/information to find solutions to problems requiring the use of a broad range of established data science methods and techniques.
- Assists senior analysts in the development and implementation of analytical and simulation models used to evaluate processes or program factors.
- Applies a variety of innovative analytical techniques to formulate conclusions and solve problems.
- Compiles, organizes, analyzes, and processes data and information from a variety of sources, and modifies, adapts, and/or refines existing applications, processes, precedents, and techniques to achieve stated objectives.
- Participates in special initiatives, studies, and projects and perform special research tasks designed to utilize and enhance knowledge of work processes and techniques.
- Makes presentations at various scientific and technical meetings and prepare other written correspondence.
- Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction.
Qualifications/Requirements:

- Obtain & maintain Top-Secret Security clearance
- Subject to ongoing random drug testing
- A bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a directly related field with at least 30 combined semester hours of coursework in these disciplines.
- Professional knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts, and practices of data science to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, processes, and/or operational problems and procedures.
- Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply data science rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend solutions to senior analysts.
- Ability to plan and organize work and confer with co-workers effectively.
