About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Statistical Analyst(NH-1529-02T03) to work at the 412 Test Wing, 412 Test Engineering Group, 812 Test Support Squadron, Statistical Methods Flight (812 TSS/ENTR) at Edwards Air Force Base.

The statistical analyst position is responsible for providing statistical support for test planning, analysis, and reporting for ground and flight tests within the Test Wing and for training, educating, and instructing Test Wing personnel in statistical principles, methods, and techniques.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490 - $161,313 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel

Desired Skills:

- Strong core knowledge of probability distributions, experimental design, statistical models such as time series, linear and non-linear regression, non-parametric, and multivariate analysis plus basic knowledge of machine learning models

- Ability to effectively plan, organize, adapt, comply, and collaborate with leadership, instructions and processes regarding test plans and technical reports.

- Strong programming proficiency in R and Python.

Major Duties:

- Serves as Combined Test Force (CTF) subject matter expert in the application of statistical methods in ground and flight tests and ensure methods used in tests and evaluation adhere to Air Force Test Center and Test Wing instructions.

- Provides mentorship, education, and training to test force personnel to design tests that are adequately resourced and executed.

- Promotes the use of statistical best practices and uniformity of statistical methods through statistical software, instruction, and both formal and informal CTF engagements and briefings.

- Serves as the focal point at the CTF to disseminate and communicate information relevant to statistical methods across the enterprise.

- Plays an active role in the development of statistical methods to advance the practice of statistics through scientific and academic research.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Top-Secret Security clearance
  • Subject to ongoing random drug testing
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, or a directly related field with that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical concepts, principles, and techniques.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various engineering and test disciplines, and coordinate with other Air Force agencies.
  • Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
