About the Role:

Air Force Material Command is looking for a full-time Industrial Equipment Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, WS-5301-09, to work at 96 Test Wing, 96 Civil Engineer Group, 796 Civil Engineer Squadron, Alarms Shop (CES/CEOIH) at Eglin Air Force Base.

To exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate work leaders and workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration.

Location: Valpariso,FL, Eglin Air Force Base

Typical 2026 salary range: $64,522 - $75,234 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: TDY for certification or advanced training may be required. Responds to other sites/locations throughout Eglin range.

Desired Skills:

A seasoned technical leader who combines deep expertise in the mechanical repair of complex industrial machinery with proven supervisory experience.

Posses extensive hands-on experience in the 5301 occupational series.

They are skilled in developing and overseeing comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules that align with DoW operational requirements.

Major Duties:

- Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily or by project basis.

- Adheres to work priorities, prject schedules, resources, and detailed work plans established by higher-level supervisors.

- Follows customary work cycles and sequences in planning work assignments.

- Tracks and reports progress on work assignments and requests authority to adjust worker assignments and to use overtime, equipment, and materials to meet schedules.

- Recommends changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary.

- Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes.

- Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems and coordinates work among workers and other supervisors to maintain work progress to meet schedules.

- Inspects completed work for quality and work task requirements.

- Reports possible or actual work delays to supervisors promptly.

- Performs administration responsibilities such as performance plans, appraisals, performance reviews, awards, complaints, mishap reports, work reports, and maintains maintenance records.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
  • A valid driver's license will be required for the position.
  • As required, may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of HVAC duties.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of air conditioning and heating trades supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
