About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center (AFTC) is looking for a Permanent Full-Time Director, Financial Management, NH-0505-04, to work at AFTC/FM at Edwards AFB, CA.
In this position you will support and deliver agile war-winning management capabilities for the Air Force Test Center, Air Force Materiel Command, by providing warfighter-focused high quality decision support to the test enterprise mission offering financial management services to all personnel, programs, support missions, associates, and external customers.

Typical 2026 salary range $146,632 - $197,200 per year (includes Locality)
Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment

Desired Skills:
- The ability to synthesize complex, multi-year funding streams (such as RDT&E, Procurement, and O&M) to build highly accurate execution forecasts and identify potential funding shortfalls before they impact the mission
- Proven capability to navigate complex statutory limitations to find creative, compliant solutions for funding urgent warfighter requirements
- The ability to serve as a trusted financial advisor to program managers, contracting officers, and senior commanders, translating technical financial constraints into clear, mission-focused options.
Major Duties:
- Plans, assigns, and evaluates subordinate work; handles hiring, discipline, and grievances; and manages employee training and performance standards
- Advises the AFTC Commander on highly technical RDT&E finances, directs enterprise budgeting and long-range planning, and represents the center at high-level DoD/Air Force meetings
- Drives top-level business decisions, prepares and defends AFTC budgets to higher headquarters/Congress, manages resource impacts, and administers cost strategies
- Resolves complex financial policy conflicts, navigating diverse laws, directives, and funding authorities while adapting to changing political and environmental priorities
- Serves as the FM Center Senior Functional, overseeing workforce processes, advising leadership, and managing succession, training, and force development.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
- Obtain & maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- This is a Financial Management Level 3 Certified position IAW the NDAA 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d
- This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP), Type 2- Critical Acquisition Position (CAP), Category K Business-Financial Management, Level 4- Advanced FM
- Extensive knowledge of the policies, laws, regulations, precedents, and objectives of Congress, OSD, OMB, DoD, AF, and HQ AFMC
- Knowledge of major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and operations of the organization
- Skill in developing new or modified work methods, organizational structures, management processes, and/or program administrative procedures
- Ability to apply a variety of methods and techniques to financial management programs and processes.
