About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Technical Expert - General Engineer NH-0801-04 to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Electronic Warfare Group, 772nd Test Squadron (772 TS/EWOI) at Edwards Air Force Base.     

Electronic Warfare (EW) Technical Expert for the 772d Test Squadron, which serves as the focal point within the EW Group for achieving and maintaining a national reputation for superior EW test methods and analysis in regards to cockpit simulators, anechoic chamber testing and modeling and simulation. Provide subject matter expertise in the application of Test and Evaluation processes outlined in AFI 99-103, tailored toward EW evaluation of current and future national and international weapon systems. Will demonstrate expertise in test planning, provisioning, execution, analysis and reporting. Specifically, document and improve the EW test process; provide technical leadership and is responsible for the technical development of EW engineers; develop test infrastructure; and represent the AFTC in technical matters related to EW Test & Evaluation (T&E).

Typical 2026 salary range $146,632 - $197,200 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): by military or commercial aircraft approximately 60 days per year.

Desired Skills:

- 5 years of technical experience in advanced Radio Frequency (RF) technologies and strategic capability development desired.

- 3 years of experience providing active technical leadership, driving technology modernization, and maintaining program continuity across organizational transitions desired.

- 3 years of experience mentoring entry- to mid-level engineers and codifying technical training or test processes desired.

Major Duties:

- Provide technical assistance and expertise to 772d Test Squadron (TS) EW personnel as well as other personnel in the 412 EW Group, 412 TW, and other AFTC, Air Force and DoD organizations.

- Provide technical leadership to approximately 100+ civilian, military and support contractor personnel engaged in executing the responsibilities assigned to the 772d TS. Ensure all squadron test planning, execution, analysis and reporting is technically adequate, in compliance with directives, and uses test resources effectively.

- Lead verification and validation (V&V) activities for EW Group capabilities. Coordinate identification of requirements for upgrades to Group T&E facilities. Develop and document processes and procedures to ensure Edwards AFB ground and flight test resources are used effectively.

- Develop and implement policies, performance goals and management programs for technical aspects of EW Group operation in accordance with the EW Group business plan. Technical responsibility for the work accomplished by a mix of civilian, military and contractor professional and technical personnel.

- Represent the EW Group, 412TW and AFTC on all matters concerning the test and evaluation of EW systems under test. Maintain currency in EW, Low Observable, Antenna Pattern Measurements, Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility and test related technical areas by participating in working groups, seminars, and symposia.

- Require development and application of advanced engineering processes to test article evaluation. May be assigned to: direct and conduct evaluation of special flight or ground tests; exercise technical supervision over designated integrated product teams; and investigate and develop innovative administrative processes to further the AFTC mission.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position.
  • Ability to plan and execute a complete and comprehensive test and evaluation of the survivability and overall mission effectiveness of air vehicles by efficiently using multiple test facilities/resources as well as analyzing the resulting data and be able to evaluate and report on the results.
  • Ability to guide a team of engineers through the resolution of complex technical, resource and logistics challenges/issues related to the testing of electronic warfare, avionics computer hardware/software, integrated avionics systems, radar or other airborne sensors.
  • Expert knowledge of Electronic Warfare and expertise in electronics engineering with a high level of specialized knowledge in Modeling and Simulation (M&S), Radar Cross section (RCS) measurement, and RCS reduction and low observable systems.
