About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time/ Electronics Technician (NJ-0856-03) to work at the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), at the 412th Aircraft Instrumentation Test Squadron, at Edwards AFB in Edwards, CA.
Provide sub-professional engineering technical services to design, manufacture, modify, test, interface, evaluate, support and document the operation and performance of airborne test instrumentation and ground support systems.

Typical 2026 salary range: $71,957 - $113,185 per year (includes Locality)

Major Duties:
• - Independently plan, design, and modify instrumentation data acquisition systems for proposed, and on-going, flight test and evaluation programs. In conjunction with aircraft manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, and engineering personnel, develops major instrumentation data acquisition systems and special electronic support equipment used on test and evaluation programs.
- Prepares the airborne instrumentation system to collect flight test data by loading data recording devices, jamming time, and verifying data collection and telemetry system integrity. Configures instrumentation ground support equipment to meet specific test requirements.
- Operationally supports aircraft instrumentation data acquisition systems throughout the duration of the modification and test and evaluation program. Performs removal, re-installation, or replacement of unsatisfactory hardware and software; accomplishes modifications to the system to meet changing program requirements. Repairs, overhauls, modifies, and maintains the airborne instrumentation and telemetry systems. Use schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to analyze and isolate system malfunctions. Troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs instrumentation and telemetry systems components such as: transmitters, recorders, computers, and signal conversion and conditioning equipment.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET or TOP-SECRET security clearance as a condition of employment
- This is designated Drug Testing Position
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
- Knowledge of instrumentation data acquisition systems and telemetry and their application in both aircraft and ground systems.
- Knowledge acquired through practical experience directly related to instrumentation/electronic engineering concepts, principles, and techniques.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of computers and computer software as applied to technical functions.
- Working knowledge of aeronautical and mechanical engineering principles as related to instrumentation data systems.
