About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a full-time, permanent NH-0080-03 to work at 46th Test Squadron Operating Location A at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida.

96TH TEST WING MISSION: We test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapon systems, provide quality installation and mission support, and serve as responsible stewards of our resources to deliver war-winning capabilities.  In this position, you will serve as the government Chief of Security at a geographically separated unit supporting multiple programs of top national defense priority. 

Announcement Length/Closes: 15 workdays

Location: Cocoa Beach, Florida (Patrick Space Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $89,508 - $138,370 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Travel required to obtain specialized training and to attend security conferences and symposiums.  30 days/year or less.

Desired Skills:

Responsible for the accreditation of a new Special Access Program Facility (SAPF)

Responsible for the accreditation of a new Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)

Served as Chief of Security for squadron (or equivalent) organization

Major Duties:

- Deliver presentations and briefings to the Director on unit security program status including accomplishments, solutions, open actions, and future requirements for funding, hardware, software, training, etc.

- Prepare, deliver, and monitor security training of assigned government and contract personnel

- Coordinate the day-to-day activities of assigned contractor security and information system security personnel

- Prepare security standard operating procedures for all facilities

- Prepare emergency action plans for all facilities

- Coordinate with host base security organizations and particiapte in recurring base security meetings

- Coordinate with parent squadron, group, wing, and command security officials

- Oversee Industrial Security Program of attached DoD support contract personnel

- Organize and lead the unit's security self-inspection activities and reports results to the Director

- Coordinate with unit facility manager and resource manager for the physical maintenance of all classified facilities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Top Secret security clearance with SCI and SAP access
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, Security Asset Protection Professional Certification, and Special program Security Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DOD Security Accreditation and Certification.
