About the Role:

The 412th Maintenance Group is looking for a Full-Time AGE Servicing, Pick-up, Delivery Driver/Mechanic (WG-5378-06T08) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Maintenance Group, 412th Maintenance Squadron, Aerospace Ground Equipment Flight (412 MXS/MXMG) at Edwards Air Force Base.

 

The primary purpose of this position is to support flight line aircraft organizations, special programs, tenant organizations, and other base agencies by providing pickup, delivery, and minor maintenance support on Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) to support the AFTC Mission.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $32.81 - $45.16 per hour (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Installation - wide (412 TW)

Desired Skills:

-Skill in using modern digital diagnostic tools, handheld analyzers, or software-based systems to quickly identify AGE faults beyond basic troubleshooting

-Ability to effectively collaborate with flight line crews, supply, and other maintenance shops to streamline AGE availability and reduce downtime.

-Skill in recognizing inefficiencies in servicing, delivery, or training processes and proposing practical solutions that enhance mission readiness.

Major Duties:

- Perform servicing, pick-up, and delivery of Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) across flight line and base locations

- Replenish AGE fluids (fuel, hydraulic, lubricating oils) and conduct service inspections using technical data/work cards

- Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on powered and non-powered AGE (repairs under two hours)

- Repair and replace electrical cables, hydraulic/pneumatic hoses, belts, batteries, tires, bulbs, and fuses on AGE

- Maintain and manage bulk fuel inventory for AGE tanks, including daily gauging, ordering, and inspections

- Conduct AGE familiarization training for military, civilian, and contractor users, including emergency shutdown procedures

- Operate and maintain aircraft towing and support vehicles (pickups, stake trucks, forklifts, bobtails, GSA vehicles)

- Perform inspections, refueling, and discrepancy documentation for AGE vehicles and coordinate scheduled/unscheduled maintenance

- Apply safety practices, maintain a clean work environment, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment

- Keep accurate maintenance records and enter data into automated maintenance information systems. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance
  • Must obtain a valid driver's license
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Skill in the knowledge of procedures and methods used in the operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of powered and non-powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE).
  • Skill in the operation and care of vehicles and material-moving equipment, including medium-weight trucks and forklifts.
  • Skill in the use and care of hand tools and specialized test equipment required for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to keep maintenance records and use automated record-keeping systems to document inspections, servicing, and repairs.
