About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Aerospace Engineer (NH-0861-04) to work at the 96 Test Wing, Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office (96 SK) at  Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office Mission:  Accelerate weapons development and certification by integrating as trusted experts from concept to combat and leveraging our robust Aircraft Store Compatibility data repository to deliver capabilities at the speed of innovation. The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Principal Technical Advisor for the Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office (AFSEO). Leads AFSEO work related to application of advanced techniques for M&S in support of the AFSEO Evaluate Compatibility and Technical Assistance Processes. Advises leadership on ( 1) the design and execution of plans to modify and improve modeling and simulation methodologies, tools and techniques, to include computational fluid dynamics and artificial intelligence applications, to develop and employ new combat capability, (2) the identification of requirements for the development and maintenance of advanced applications for AFSEO to include all M&S systems, tools, and techniques to enhance engineering analysis.

Typical 2026 salary range: $125,776 - $192,331 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Approximately 60 days per year

Desired Skills:

10+yrs of experience leading modeling and simulation efforts and technical tool development to support test or experimental analysis

10+yrs of experience applying computational fluid dynamics as well as instructing CFD

10+yrs of experience with high performance computing resources and modernization programs

5+yrs knowledge and experience applying artificial intelligence in a wide variety of ways to M&S techniques and tools to enhance technical / engineering analysis

Major Duties:

-Advise. As a Principal Technical Advisor for the AFSEO, provides technical advice towards the development of advanced applications of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and the development of advanced applications employing artificial intelligence (A.I.) in support of the AFSEO engineering analysis and processes that evaluate aircraft store compatibility and provide technical assistance.

-Conduct Studies. Serves as a recognized expert in M&S applications for aircraft/store compatibility engineering with responsibility for providing technical leadership for these activities. Conduct regular assessments of government and industry A.I. tools (methods, applications, and best practices); evaluate tools that would contribute to improved computational or engineering analysis capability for AFSEO; develop a standard applications internal to AFSEO; deploy standardized improvements across AFSEO disciplines and educate the workforce.

-AFSEO Technical Representative. As a recognized technical expert in M&S, provides technical assistance/advice. Represent AFSEO in critical meetings or at special technical conferences with authority to make technical recommendations affecting aircraft /store engineering analysis capabilities.

-Consultant. Performs professional engineering duties in support of the AFSEO's mission. Conducts comprehensive engineering and technical reviews considering current and projected state-of-the-art M&S capabilities. Provides expert advice on the applicability of M&S techniques, tools, and methods to developmental program offices and their prime contractors. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • A bachelor degree (minimum) from an ABET accredited institution in Aerospace Engineering. Masters degree desired
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2
  • (Practitioner) Non-Critical Certification in Engineering and Technical Management. Employee is expected to meet Continuing Acquisition Education requirements.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs)

  • Professional knowledge of applied aerospace engineering as would be required by a bachelor's degree and a mastery knowledge of professional computer science and engineering principles relevant to modeling and simulation.
  • Mastery knowledge of applied mathematics, theoretical aerodynamics and of advanced applications for M&S in the engineering compatibility process as applied to aircraft/store certification.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and advise the technical functions and staff of a professional engineering or research organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as exemplified by technical papers and presentations.
  • Skill in managing the development of advanced applications for M&S including: software development and application; organizational operations; strategic/long range planning; project management.
