About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory Safety and Occupational Health Manager (NH-0018-03) to work at the 96 Test Wing Safety Office (96TW/SE) at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.

96TH TEST WING MISSION:  We test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapon systems and cyberspace capabilities, provide quality installation and mission support, and serve as responsible stewards of our resources to deliver war-winning capabilities. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the ranking supervisory occupational safety and health specialist responsible for developing and executing the Wing's Ground Safety program in accordance with AFI 91-301 and AFI 91-202. Duties include defining the objective standards and mode of operation for Wing ground mishap prevention and investigation, safety education and training.

Location: Eglin AFB, Valparaiso, FL

Typical 2026 salary range: $89,508 - $138,370 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: TDY approximately 10 days per year

Desired Skills:

3 years of experience managing a comprehensive occupational safety program desired.

2 years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience desired.

2 years of experience managing safety in a complex industrial or technical environment desired.

Major Duties:

 Plans, organizes, and directs all activities of the Safety Office to ensure the Occupational Safety Program complies with legal and regulatory requirements.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities for civilian and military personnel, including assigning work, evaluating performance, and managing team development.

Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Wing's Ground Safety program.

Balances workload, sets priorities, and provides direction to staff on a wide range of safety and administrative issues.

Functions as the ranking technical authority in the safety analysis of complex occupational operations, including those involving hazardous chemicals and materials.

Represents the Safety Office to senior leadership, DoD officials, and other government and private industry counterparts to resolve issues and build effective relationships.

Identifies resource requirements and initiates requests for personnel, equipment, and supplies to ensure mission success.

Originates extensive program and developmental efforts for diverse safety programs, particularly where issues are undefined or have far-reaching implications.

Consults with other experts, such as bioenvironmental engineers and physicians, to resolve complex workplace hazards and develop new safety guidelines.

Establishes metrics and analysis systems to review program effectiveness and reports findings and corrective actions to leadership. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Knowledge of the Occupational Safety program in order to provide policy, guidance, oversight, assessment, and technical control.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization..
