About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN/OS) NH-2210-03 to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Electronic Warfare Group, 445th Test Squadron (445 TS/EWJI-OL) at Nellis Air Force Base.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide journeyman level expertise that involves developing, delivering, and supporting IT systems in order to obtain, maintain, and sustain an Authority to Operate (ATO) for modeling and simulation capabilities related to aircraft and their subsystems within a highly integrated virtualized battelspace environment and ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices across all areas of the architecture. The systems consist of digital and analog processors, cockpit displays & controls, mechanical and electrical interfaces, and digital models of a wide variety and fidelity. Software includes algorithms for navigation, ordnance targeting/delivery, flight controls, energy & propulsion management, communications, sensor imaging, and target locations and identification as well as data management and data analysis.

Typical 2026 salary range: $91,427 - $141,337 Per Year (includes Locality)
Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) by military or commercial aircraft approximately 60 days per year.

Desired Skills:
- Unix or linux system administration experience with networked systems, including unix/linux-based networked file systems, ability to manage and operate router equipment: Cisco and Fortinet
- Ability to manage (non-supervisory) a team of 6-10, and able to mentor where needed
- Knowledge of security measures such as selinux on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Major Duties:
-System Admin - Work involves planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. Functions commonly performed by employee include: planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software, managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment, managing systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability. In addition, implementing security procedures and tools, developing and documenting systems administration standard operating procedures, resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Responsible for ensuring systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency, maintaining systems configuration, managing the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates, and enhancements.
- Operating Systems - Work involves the planning, installation, configuration, testing, implementation, and management of the systems environment in support of the organization's IT modeling and simulation architecture. Functions commonly performed by employee include: analyzing systems requirements in response to business requirements, risks, and costs; integrating hardware and software components within the systems environment.
- Network Services - Work involves the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. Functions commonly performed by employee include configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers, and switches; analyzing network workload; monitoring network capacity and performance. In addition, diagnosing and resolving network problems; developing network backup and recovery procedures; and installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading network operating systems software.
- Data Management - Work involves the planning, development, implementation, and administration of systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data. Functions commonly performed by employees in this specialty may include: maintaining, monitoring, performance tuning, backup, and recovery of databases; analyzing and planning for anticipated changes in data capacity requirements; developing and administering data standards, policies, and procedures.
- Customer Support - Work involves the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements. Functions commonly performed by employees in this specialty may include diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported Incidents and installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer hardware and software..
Qualifications/Requirements:

- Obtain and maintain Top Secret Security clearance.

- Knowledge of a full range of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services, and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures.
- Knowledge of IT INFOSEC security requirements for certification and accreditation, network operations and protocols, systems testing and evaluation, and performance management methods sufficient to implement and configure system/network compliance with security accreditation requirements.
- Knowledge of Local Area Network security requirements and techniques to implement protection of computer systems from viruses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry.
- Knowledge of a broad range of telecommunications concepts and principles, operating modes, systems, media equipment, equipment configuration, and related software systems, processes and procedures to implement security accreditation requirements to counter vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g., espionage, disruption of services, destructive programs/applications) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
