About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Engineering Technical Expert (NH-0801-04) to work at the 412 Test Wing, 412 Test Engineering Group, 775 Test Squadron, GNI and Mission Planning Flight (775TS/ENVA) at Edwards AFB, CA.
The primary purpose is to serve as the Avionics and Armament Integration Squadron's national/international recognized expert on aircraft guidance, navigation, and identification systems. The position provides expertise and consultation on flight test of manned and unmanned air vehicles, missiles, and hypersonic vehicles. This position has primary technical review responsibility over test plans and technical reports and provides expert guidance in the avionics discipline. The incumbent also participates in the safety review process.

Typical 2026 salary range: $146,632- $197,200 Per Year (includes Locality)

Desired Skills:
- 10+ years of Guidance, Navigation, and Identification (GNI) Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) experience.
- Experience at multiple Combined Test Forces (CTFs)/platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and develop technical expertise in GNI personnel and teams through constructive, actionable feedback.
- Works well with a variety of individuals, CTFs and program offices to move programs forward.
Major Duties:
-Performs expert level professional engineering work in research, development, testing and evaluation (RDT&E) supporting acquisition or sustainment of the Air Force air vehicles and related systems.
-Recognized 412 TW technical expert on one or more aspects of avionics RDT&E.
-Provides expert technical review and advice on evaluation of test results.
-Incumbent is subject matter expert leading or advising diverse engineering teams planning, implementing, and executing complex test activities on prototype and developmental systems.
-Advises and oversees development, test and evaluation of air vehicle and related systems for USAF, multi-service, and multi-national acquisition programs.
-Gives advice, mentors, and instructs employees on technical matters.
-Identifies technical developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Develops technical standards.
Qualifications/Requirements:

- Education requirements (program accredited by ABET)
- Expert knowledge of integrated air-vehicle and ground systems.
- Expert knowledge of DOD acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate test with a multi-disciplinary team and coordinate with other base, Air Force, and DOD organizations.
- Ability to maintain good working relations and to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to personnel as well as project management oversight.
