About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory Inspector General (NH-1801-04) to work at the 412 Test Wing, Wing Staff Agencies, Inspector General Office (412 TW/IG) at Edwards Air Force Base.
To serve as a supervisor responsible for planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over subordinate employees assigned to the Wing Inspector General (IG) office. Serves as the Wing IG, with responsibility to review and oversee Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force (AF), and Wing inspection programs. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, policy, and direction for programs such as the Air Force Inspection System (AFIS); Complaints Resolution Program; Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) Program; Strategic Plans and Programs; and the Commander’s Inspection Program (CCIP).

Desired Skills:
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in public management, administration, or criminal justice is desired.
- 3 years of experience directly advising or supporting senior military or US governmental leaders
- 6 years of supervisory/leadership experience, including 1 year overseeing an independent cross-organizational program
- 4 years of experience managing or supporting Air Force inspection, complaints, or FWA programs desired.
- 4 years of experience conducting or overseeing investigations involving complex, sensitive, or multi‑agency issues desired.
Major Duties:
-Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time
-Manages IG programs designed to independently assess and report a unit’s readiness, economy, efficiency, effectiveness, and state of discipline to execute assigned missions
-Serves as the commander’s principal advisor on Air Force Complaints Resolution and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) programs
-Oversees the operation and management of Self-Assessment, Exercise, and Inspection programs
-Manages self-assessment and/or staff assistance visits (SAV), and ensures detailed and comprehensive reports with any corrective action taken are presented to the wing/center commander
-Implements the AFIS as an integrated, synchronized system of inspections conducted on behalf of the Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF), the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF) and commanders at all levels
-Researches, interprets, analyzes, and applies guidelines, policies, and regulations related to the Air Force Inspection System (AFIS); Complaints Resolution Program; Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) Program; Strategic Plans and Programs; and the Commander’s Inspection Program (CCIP)
-Hears a variety of IG complaints, grievances, inquiries, and/or suggestions at any time from military members (retired and active), civilians, and dependents
-Informs local commanders and associate units on base of potential areas of concern, as reflected by trends based on analysis of complaint data
-Counsels the commander on actions related to the Complaints Resolution process (to include complaints against senior officers/management officials)
-Works closely with MAJCOM/IG on appropriateness of investigations and determinations to resolve complaints
-Requires a high degree of discretion due to access to sensitive information
-The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
Qualifications/Requirements:

- The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a TS clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the Installation Inspector General Training Course (IIGTC) within 90 days of appointment; must complete the USAF Basic Inspectors Course for the Commanders Inspection Program within 90 days of assignment; and IG appointees for nuclear-capable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspector Course within 180 days of assignment. Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD and AF regulations
- Subject to 30 Temporary Duty Assignment days a year
- Knowledge of a wide range of complex inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices; as well as knowledge of Public Laws, Executive Orders, DoD Regulations, Air Force Instructions, administrative and legal procedures, and other decisions/standards related to agency activities and IG programs sufficient to conduct interviews, inspections, and investigations to analyze the nature of the complaint and specific issues to be addressed.
- Knowledge of Air Force, MAJCOM, and installation program goals and objectives; IG functions, operations, policies, procedures, and practices; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; and the relationship of various installation entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluations.-
- Knowledge of personnel management, EEO, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures
- Skill in assessing program needs to accomplish goals and objectives, evaluate program status, and recommend or implement solutions for improvement.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors; and to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
