About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center (AFTC) is looking for a Full-Time Fuel Distribution System Mechanic Supervisor (WS-4255-11) to work at 412th Test Wing, Air Force Plant 42 (AFMC/412 TW/OL-AFP 42) at Air Force Plant 42 (LG) in Palmdale, CA.
The mission of AF Plant 42 Logistics Fuels Section is to provide all resources necessary to perform operation and maintenance services tasks inclusive of all the primary and secondary systems for all liquid fuel ground and aviation receiving, storage, and distribution systems. To provide safe, reliable fuels operations and sustainment support services to Air Force Plant 42 airfield complex and industrial facilities, in support of the production, modification, depot maintenance, and flight test of critical aerospace and weapons systems.

Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 11 days per year.

Desired Skills:
Demonstrates extensive experience in operating and managing Fuels Operations, including proficiently driving and operating R-11 Fuel Trucks.
Possesses comprehensive experience with Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) processes and expertise in utilizing the Fuels Management Enterprise System.
Maintains a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Endorsement, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations.
Major Duties:
• Work Planning and Prioritization: Effectively plans, prioritizes, and sequences work on a weekly and monthly basis, establishing clear deadlines for subordinates and ensuring a balanced distribution of tasks to optimize workflow and resource allocation.
• Resource and Schedule Management: Proactively manages subordinate workers, equipment, and materials, coordinating with other supervisors to align with general work schedules and policies. Informs higher-level supervisors of potential delays and provides recommendations for revising schedules and resources.
• Technical Direction and Problem Solving: Provides expert technical direction to individuals, helps troubleshoot difficult work steps, and investigates work-related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity, implementing effective corrective actions to resolve them.
• Fuel Systems Maintenance and Operations: Directs all phases of liquid fuel system maintenance, including the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of pumps, valves, meters, and hydrant systems to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
• Performance and Personnel Management: Develops comprehensive performance plans, provides continuous feedback, and conducts timely appraisals for subordinates. Manages leave schedules, identifies training needs, and initiates recommendations for promotions or reassignments.
• Administrative Compliance and Quality Control: Ensures all administrative duties are performed accurately, including the review of fuel documents, inspection records, and self-inspection checklists. Guarantees the quality of all fuel requirements through specific sample testing and established procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
