About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Security Specialist (NH-0080-03) to work at the 412 Test Wing, Wing Staff Agencies, Information Protection Office (412TW/IP) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Senior Security Specialist for the 412 Test Wing Information Protection Office. Supports a single or multiple 412 Test Wing/Air Force Test Center RDT&E organizations in the management and integration of Special Access Program, Information Security, Industrial Security, Personnel Security, Information Systems Security, Physical Security, Operations Security and Acquisition Security programs.

Typical 2026 salary range: $104,349 - $161,313 per year (includes Locality)

Desired Skills:

- 1-3 years of security experience supporting Special Access Programs

- Experience and understanding of the Security Eligibility Process

- Understanding of the ICD 705 Technical Specs for constructing facilities

- Experience in security management compliance

Major Duties:

- Provide guidance on generalized security practices including Personnel Security, Information and Industrial Security, Physical Security, Operations Security and Special Access Security.

- Administer personnel security practices, utilize Defense Information System for Security (DISS) System, Special Access Program (SAP) Security and accomplish security program objectives/mission requirements.

- Accomplish physical security processes for Special Access Facilities (SAPF) and ICD 705 construction requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • This is a national security position. Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Some temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required
  • The incumbent will be required to obtain/maintain DOD certification as a condition of employment. Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DOD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of security and information protection concepts, principles, and practices to review independently, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Comprehensive knowledge of security policy requirements to function as technical authority in multiple security specialties in order to resolve major conflicts in policy, procedure and program objectives.
  • Ability to work independently planning. scheduling, coordinating, carrying out, and monitoring the effectiveness of the operations of multiple security programs in attaining organizational operational and test mission activities.
  • Ability to interpret, establish and monitor operating security programs to meet specific test and operational program situations involving multi-security classification and highly classified information, facilities, devices and operations.
  • Knowledge of analytical methods for determining and evaluating vulnerability threats, intelligence data and other specialized areas resulting in possible program compromise.
