About the Role:

Full-Time Educational Technician (NJ-1702-02) to work at the 96FSS (FSYC) at Eglin Air Force Base.

      In this position you will provide appropriate, specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center (CDC). In addition, performs basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years . The incumbent may be designated as the supervisor on duty, as needed, whenever the Child Development Center (CDC) Director is not physically in the facility. Typical 2026 salary range: $34,799-$62,057 per year (includes Locality)

Desired Skills:

-Demonstrates a deep understanding of child development, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine passion for working with children in a variety of settings.

-Must have worked in a Military Child Development Center setting for at least two years.

-Must have 18 total months of childcare experience, or a degree or Child Development Associate (CDA) related to childcare.

Major Duties:

• Leads and supervises program staff to ensure effective operation of assigned CYS programs in accordance with AF regulations.

• Ensures full compliance with all AF, DoD, and local policies, standards, certification, and accreditation requirements.

• Provides oversight, accountability, and safety for children and youth during all program activities, transitions, and events.

• Plans, coordinates, and conducts developmentally appropriate activities, including accommodations for children/youth with special needs.

• Monitors and maintains proper staff to child ratios, ensuring adequate coverage and quality interactions at all times.

• Guides, trains, and mentors team members by providing instruction, modeling best practices, and resolving routine conflicts or issues.

• Communicates professionally with parents, staff, and school representatives, including participation in conferences and briefings.

• Ensures proper supervision during arrivals, departures, field trips, indoor/outdoor activities, and special events.

• Manages program materials, equipment, supplies, displays, and activity areas, including inventory and security responsibilities.

• Completes required training, maintains IDP documentation, and acts as facility manager during non routine or emergency situations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures, and processes.
  • This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". IA W Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094. A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
  • Required to complete the AF Child Development Program Assistant Modules according to AFI34-248 and Criteria C294. Satisfactory progress toward and completion of the modules is a condition of employment. After fulfilling the initial 6 months requirement of completing 3 modules ( # 14 & # 15 plus module of choice), caregivers must complete a minimum of 3 modules every 3 months, completing all modules within the first 18 months of employment.
