About the Role:

Full-Time Aircraft Mechanic (WG-8852-12) to work at the 412 TW, 412 MXG, 412 AMXS, Raptor (MXAR) at Edwards Air Force Base.

In this position you will provide equipment maintenance for General Test & Test Aircraft.  To prepare aircraft for, and perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance and modifications.  As an assigned aircraft mechanic providing on-equipment maintenance for Test Aircraft and Weapons systems. You will assist in the development of, and conduct and administer, “on-the-job", proficiency, and other training programs within the AMU. You will prepare aircraft and weapon systems for and perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and modification.

Location: Edwards Air Force Base, California

Typical 2025 salary range: $47.93 to $55.92 per hour (includes Locality)

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Installation - wide (Edwards Air Force Base)

Desired Skills:

- 2 years of F-22 aircraft maintenance experience desired

- 2 years of flight test experience desired

- 4 years of aircraft mechanic experience desired

 

Major Duties:

 

- Accomplishes maintenance on test aircraft, preflight, postflight, and special inspections, as well as scheduled and unscheduled flightline maintenance.

- Accomplishes preflight checkout of inspected/repaired aircraft prior to flight.

- Performs visual and mechanical operation checks of all systems and components.

- Performs or leads others in the performance of ground handling and servicing of assigned aircraft, including the pre-flight, post-flight, launch, recovery, refueling, towing, washing, lubricating, jacking, performing end of runway inspections, etc.

- Performs or leads others in maintaining aircraft and maintenance records. Including all standard records and records of modifications performed on assigned aircraft and equipment, following established procedures, technical data, and directives.

- Conducts training sessions under formal organized training programs designed to update, extend, and/or improve the skills or to cross-train full performance level aircraft mechanics to an intermediate skill level on associated systems.

- Ensures safety and housekeeping rules are followed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance (if applicable)

- This is a designated Drug Testing Position (if applicable)

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical (if applicable)

- Must be able to qualify/maintain a flightline drivers license, operate government vehicles and AGE

- Working knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s)

- Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures

- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of tools, equipment and equipment common to trades and labor work performed

- Ability to plan and organize work assignments, to include determining resources required to accomplish mission
