About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Operations Research Analyst (NH-1515-3) to work at the 96 Test Wing, Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office (96SK) at Eglin Air Force Base.

The primary purpose of this position is: To perform professional and scientific work requiring the design, development, and adaptation of mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques for various weapons systems and provide advice and insight about the probable effects of alternative courses of action.

Location: Valparaiso, FL (Eglin Air Force Base)

Typical 2025 salary range: $89,508 - $138,370 per year (includes Locality)

Major Duties:

- Performs complete weapons system studies of limited scope or portions of larger projects, modifying/adapting techniques to fit situations, some requiring innovative approaches.

- Works under guidance of senior analyst(s) to formulate, plan, direct, and carry to completion a variety of analyses and/or works as a team member on specific problems of major studies.

- Establishes assumptions, measures effectiveness of approaches, and evaluates available alternatives. Identifies and structures the studies and defines objectives.

- Utilizes scientific inquiry in the development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems.

- Identifies significant variables and throughly examines underlying relationships.

- Utilizes recognized methods and applies existing models when applicable to develop solutions. For specific taskings, devises new method of problem solving, working in areas where there is a lack of applicable precedents.

- Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning , advanced technologies, and support system concepts. Represents the organization during visits with government and industry representatives.

- Prepares technical reports and/or documents progress and results of each study. Makes presentations at various scientific and technical meeting.

- Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposium, contractors, research and development organizations, and participating in formal training programs.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain Security Clearance

- Education Requirements: At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management for the 1515 occupational series must be met. A degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics is required. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

- This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).  Work requires the appropriate APDP certification; i.e., Level 2 or 3 in an area such as Test & Evaluation (T&E); Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering-Systems Engineering(SPRDE-SE); or  Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering-Program Systems Engineer (SPRDE-PSE).

- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) by military or commercial aircraft approximately 30 days per year.

- Knowledge of a broad range of weapons systems, operations research analysis techniques, and possession of analytical abilities

- Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.

- Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations.
