About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Electronic Technician Telemetry Operator NJ-856-03 to work at the 96 Test Wing, 96 Range Group, 96 Range Control Squadron, Telemetry Section (96 RNCS/RNCOT) at Eglin Air Force Base.
96TH TEST WING MISSION: We test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapon systems and cyberspace capabilities, provide quality installation and mission support, and serve as responsible stewards of our resources to deliver war-winning capabilities.
The purpose of this position is to serve as a member of the 96 RNCS telemetry operator team supporting Eglin AFB telemetry-based test missions.

Typical 2025 salary range: $61,111- 96,116 per year (includes locality)

Major Duties:
Serves as Telemetry Operator
- Ensure mission readiness, minimize delays, and prevent data loss, contributing to mission success and accurate data analysis.
- Investigate anomalies in system programs and hardware and implement corrective actions.
- Operate, install, and evaluate telemetry equipment and connectivity.
- Plan, organize, and set up electronic systems, security equipment, verify quality recordings, and execute real-time and post mission telemetry processing.
- Observes system performance, identifies areas for improvement, and proposes recommendations to system engineers.
- Independently test, maintain, and troubleshoot telemetry systems.
- Communicate technical information clearly and concisely through discussions, presentations, emails, and documentation.
- Coordinate telemetry activities between range sites and the mission control room.
- Foster effective communication within cross-functional teams by coordinating mission support efforts, providing regular technical updates, and offering guidance to team members and customers.

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
- The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as walking and stair climbing. Employees engage in such exertion when climbing office building stairs or walking on foot in accomplishing building checks.
- The work is primarily performed in an office like setting involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms. The employee may be required to wear protective clothing such as coats, boots, and vests during extended periods of building checks in adverse weather conditions.
- Knowledge of the capabilities, characteristics, and uses of electronic equipment and systems
- Ability to apply electronics knowledge to engineering processes and functions such as design, development, testing and maintenance
