About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Personnel Security Specialist (Security Specialist Plans and Programs) (NH-0080-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Security Forces Squadron, S5 Section in Security Forces Plans and Programs at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

In this position you will manage and administer the USAF Personnel Security Program for the 412 Security Forces Squadron and assist Edwards AFB and Wing Information Security and Industrial Security Specialists.

Typical 2025 salary range: $47,019 - $112,053 (includes locality)

Desired Skills:

  • AS degree or higher desired.
  • 3 years security experience or law enforcement
  • 2 years of experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to conduct formal or informal presentations.
  • 2 years of experience with writing, formatting, and coordinating Department of Defense and Air Force plans or equivalent.
  • Excellent Time Management Skills

Major Duties:

  • Implements and administers the Personnel Security Program for the unit. Establishes local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military and civilian personnel.
  • Evaluates and analyzes individual Personnel Security investigations which contain derogatory information or data not consistent with the best interests of national security.
  • Submits reports to the appropriate commander for review and recommendations for withdrawal or retention of security clearances.
  • Performs as Personnel Security Specialist in managing the functional aspects of the DoD Personnel Security Program. Formulates, edits, and finalizes regulatory guidance for Personnel Security requirements.
  • Provides staff assistance and Local Information Protection Management Evaluations (LIPME) support to Wing Information and Industrial Security Specialists for annual and as required or directed Information.
  • Directs the implementation of an effective Personnel Security training and awareness program. Develops and
  • conducts Personnel Security presentations and provides current training and awareness.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship  
  • Obtain & maintain security clearance.
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Department of Defense Physical Security Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DOD Security Accreditation and Certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of security forces security systems, concepts, principles, and practices including force protection, anti-terrorism, resource protection, physical security, integrated base defense, OPSEC, crime prevention, and law enforcement program directives, policies, instructions, specialties, concepts, principles, requirements, technology, and practices to independently make decisions and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of the AF overall and AF Security Forces missions, functions, and structure at the unit level to ensure effective implementation and oversight of program plans and processes.
  • Able to conduct surveys, assessments, and projects and effectively evaluate results for the management and completion of programs.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, coordinate, and draft all security and security forces guidance and directives
