About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time IT Specialist (NH-2210-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Test Engineering Group, 412th Range Squadron, Range Engineering (412 RANS/ENRE) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
The mission of Range Engineering is to serve as the sustainment flight for all Range Squadron systems. The flight is responsible for managing all Range Squadron test system support and accomplishing long and short range internal project support planning. The flight also develops and engineers new systems to satisfy new requirements generated by Range Squadron customers and AFTC Leadership. The Range Squadron is committed to satisfying customer needs, reducing costs, improving mission turnaround time, providing adequate resources and assets, enabling people to excel, sustaining technological superiority, improving quality of life issues and increasing throughout through the use of best business practices.

Typical 2025 salary range: $103,316 – $159,716 per year (includes locality)

Desired Skills:
- 2 years of experience in server operating systems and hardware
- 2 years of experience in design and administration
- 2 year of experience in VoIP communication systems.
Major Duties:
- Coordinates new engineering projects with acclaimed Range subject matter experts, configuration management office, engineers, technicians, customers and leadership.
- Uses modern software design and systems engineering principles to create, test and implement solutions.
- Prepares detailed hardware and software development proposals including design schedule, data flow path, training plan, system configuration, test and evaluation plan, quality control methodologies and resource estimates.
- Performs sophisticated system analyses for flight test programs and for other requesters of Range Squadron processing capabilities.
- Determines the accuracy and reliability of theoretical results, interfaces with the Squadrons’ internal talent on collaborative technical efforts and serves as an expert in Range system operations.
- Applies ingenuity to research, formulate and develop new system designs using system engineering methodology and logistically-executable techniques.
- Conceptualizes and implements complex systems and large scale scientific developments.
- Provides technical advice, guidance, assistance and training to contractors, engineers, mathematicians, computer scientists, data analysts and programmers utilizing or receiving software and hardware products from Range Engineering.
- Estimates Range engineering support needed for the identification of requirements, preparation of design specifications, testing, implementation and documentation of system hardware and application software programs needed for customer support.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Top Security clearance
- Must possess or be able to acquire CompTIA Security+ Certification
- This is an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program. The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act requirements applicable to the duties of the position
- Travel up to 25%
- Skill/ability to apply computer scientist/mathematician procedures, concepts, regulations and policies related to mission support systems, especially in the areas of data transport, real-time processing, and information systems.
- Ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results and make appropriate recommendations.
- Knowledge of highly sophisticated aircraft systems, telemetry, data distribution architecture, real-time data acquisition systems and state-of-the-art information systems and computer hardware/software.
