About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Electronics Technician (NJ-0856-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Test Engineering Group, 812th Aircraft Instrumentation Test Squadron, Special Instrumentation Diagnostics, Engineering and Calibration (SIDEC) (812 AITS/ENIE) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA
The primary purpose of this position is to perform the electronics technician technical services involved in the design, fabrication, calibration, testing, evaluation, modification, repair, and documentation of instrumentation data acquisition systems/subsystem and test facilities. Although the systems/subsystems will primarily be in the laboratory and test facility environment, some may be installed on an aerospace vehicle or in a ground support unit. The subsystems involved will include printed circuit boards, transducers, aircraft instruments, airborne analog and digital recorders, wiring harnesses, transmitters, receivers, and data acquisition equipment components. The test facilities will include the Horizontal Thrust Stand, Tensile Test Facility, Special Instrumentation Diagnostic, Engineering and Calibration Laboratory. Although the position requires knowledge of mechanical, servo, pneumatic and optical systems, the primary areas of involvement and complexity are within the electronics discipline.

Typical 2025 salary range: $71,244 - $112,053 per year (includes locality)
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Desired Skills:
- 2 or more years of flight test experience desired
- 2 or more years of test program experience desired
- 2 or more years of laboratory equipment calibration experience including soldering surface mount components desired
Major Duties:
- Responsible for the testing, calibration, repair and modification of instrumentation data acquisition systems, subsystems, and their components.
- Responsible for the fabrication, evaluation and documentation of instrumentation data acquisition systems, subsystems and their components in a laboratory environment.
- Soldering surface mount devices.
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of instrumentation test facilities, including the Horizontal Thrust Stand and Tensile Test Facility.
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate technical, safety and security policies.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Secret Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- Ability to move, install, set up, and maintain electronic test equipment.
- Ability to plan and organize work and to coordinate efforts with engineering, maintenance and operations organizations as well as the ability to maintain good working relationships and to provide technical leadership and project management oversight.
- Knowledge through practical experience of precision design, fabrication and test equipment, and work standards, including computer applications in support of instrumentation design, fabrication, calibration, and laboratory testing along with skill in their use. Also, skill in soldering applications to affect fabrication, modifications, and repairs of instrumentation systems to the component level.
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of electronics, mechanics, servos, pneumatics and optics as applied in airborne instrumentation systems/subsystems and test facility/laboratory instrumentation systems.
