The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Environmental Protection Specialist (NH-0028-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Civil Engineer Group, Environmental Management Division (412 CEG/CEVC) at Edwards AFB in Edwards, CA.

Telework Information:

This position has a typical 2024 salary range of $46,020 - $109,673 (includes locality).

Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate:
- 3-5 years of experience in general environmental compliance
- 2 years of experience with local, state, federal and Air Force environmental compliance laws, regulation, and policy
- Experience with database management and record keeping.
- Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP001 Above Ground Storage Tank (AST) Certified Inspector

Mission/Purpose:
In this position the Environmental Protection Specialist will serve as a Compliance Liaison performing routine environmental work in support of the 412th Test Wing, 412th Civil Engineer Group, and the Environmental Management Division. Environmental compliance media program areas include hazardous materials and hazardous waste, air quality, solid waste, water quality or petroleum storage tanks. Your duties will include working to protect or improve environmental quality, control pollution, remedy environmental damage, ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, implement one or more environmental programs for assigned organizations and serve as an advisor on all aspects of the assigned environmental media. Inspects base organizations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards. Implements administrative actions to correct deficiencies as appropriate.

Major Duties:
- Responsible for small, routine environmental compliance projects or performs portions of large projects assigned to a program manager.
- Executes goals and priorities to support environmental compliance media plans and policy.
- Supports quality improvement and promotes environmental awareness programs.
- Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- Knowledge of related environmental engineering/scientific concepts, principles, and practices to serve as technical authority on a variety of issues related to environmental compliance
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines as they apply to environmental compliance
- Ability to adapt standard practices, equipment, or techniques in developing planning, programming, budgeting and execution requirements and implementing solutions for an array of proposed programs and projects
- Written and oral technical communication skill and the ability to present data and tailor information to impart knowledge to different stakeholders
