Modernization effort underway to keep Holloman High Speed Test Track on the rails

A penetrating payload speeds down the Holloman High Speed Test Track at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, toward an intended target during impact testing, which is among the various types of tests performed at the HHSTT. The test track is operated by the 846th Test Squadron, a unit of the 704th Test Group of the Arnold Engineering Development Complex, headquartered at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn. Personnel in the 846 TS are currently exploring the modernization of 71-year-old test track to extend its lifespan and further aid in the development of hypersonic systems. (U.S. Air Force photo)
