The Hospital Pharmacy announced it was prepared to fill any properly licensed physician’s prescriptions presented by civilians living and working at Edwards Air Force Base. The change was welcomed by civilian base residents, who often drove up to 60 miles to fill prescriptions. The use of the pharmacy by non-military personnel justified its existence as a supplementary facility. Discreet questioning of two Lancaster drug firms in March revealed there were no competition complaints.
