EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif -- Air Force Flight Test Center commander General Al Boyd completed the application for construction of an elementary school at Edwards AFB. Action was also taken to lease 20 acres of land to the California State Department of Education for the elementary school.

Irving L. Branch Elementary School serves Kindergarten through 6th grade students on Edwards Air Force Base, and is one of four schools in the Muroc Joint Unified School District. Branch School has approximately 750 students, 32 home room teachers, 3 full-time special education teachers, instructional aides, a librarian, a computer lab instructional aide, speech specialist, office personnel, a principal, and a assistant principal. Our present class size average is 20 students in Kindergarten through 3rd grades and 31 students in fourth through sixth grades. Our students are also served by district personnel on an appointment and limited scheduled basis.

Mission Statement
As Irving L. Branch Elementary School enters the new millennium, we are endeavoring to incorporate new experiences and challenges, meeting every student’s need for success by developing the whole child and preparing them for the challenges of the future.
These experiences are provided to foster aptitude, attitude, accountability, effective thinking and problem solving through encouraging life-long learning. Branch Elementary is committed to providing opportunities for growth that lead to productive, confident, civic-minded workers who are creative and self-motivated team players.
