November 26, 1951: Edwards Base Housing Expansion

Headquarters, Air Research and Development Command, advised the Center that the Secretary of the Air Force had issued a Certificate of Need for the construction of 500 additional rental units at Edwards Air Force Base. These dwellings will be of the duplex type, built under the Wherry Act allowing private business to construct and operate housing on Air Force installations.

Houses in the Wherry Housing area at Edwards AFB, in the mid-1950s, having been completed and leased to military and civilian personnel in February 1951.
