The Fitness Center Annex – formerly the Family Fitness Center – re-opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new Air Force Flight Test Center Commander, Brigadier General Robert C. Nolan II, presided over the event, cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Although the center had been closed for about a year, it was decided to reopen the facility on a one-year test basis to relieve crowds at the main fitness center. Mr. Bruce Morrison, Force Support Squadron Director, noted that the projected increase in base population due to the growing F-35 Joint Strike Fighter test program played a major part in the decision to open the Fitness Center Annex.

The fitness center has been closed for about a year but it was decided to reopen the facility on a one-year test basis to accommodate the base populace.  "To alleviate congestion at peak times at the Base Fitness Center, it was decided to reopen the fitness center as the Fitness Center Annex," said Bruce Morrison, Force Support Squadron Director.  Mr. Morrison said that a projected increase in base population with the Joint Strike Fighter program and other initiatives helped move along the decision to open the Fitness Center Annex to meet future mission needs.  The fitness center annex has an abundance of Nautilus and cardio machines to meet the workout requirements of Team Edwards.
