EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 96th Operations Group’s commander received a Defense Superior Service Medal Nov. 12 here for his accomplishments at his previous Pentagon assignment.
Col. Douglas Creviston, received the Department of Defense honor for exceptional superior service as director of the Comparative Technology Office, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.
“This decoration is incredibly significant to me because of the strategic importance of the programs it represents. Together, my team expanded the competitive space by creating new pathways for co-development of military systems in partnership with our trusted allies and partners,” said Creviston, a central-Illinois native. “I’m grateful for the teammates and international partners who made this effort so productive.”
From June of 2018 to June of 2020, Creviston led the Foreign Comparative Testing program. His contributions resulted in the accelerated fielding of 17 high-priority capabilities, avoided significant research and development costs and produced more than $1 billion in procurement according to the award citation.
In addition, Creviston launched the Allied Prototyping Initiative to grow and foster the cooperative development of operational prototypes with our allies and partner nations. He was instrumental in the initiation of the program’s first two projects aligned to hypersonics modernization.
The citation also stated the programs and projects led by Creviston strengthened alliances and enhanced America’s national security.
