Test workshop shifts focus to cybersecurity Published Feb. 24, 2021 By K. Houston Waters 66 Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – In an effort to inform Hanscom-area acquisition professionals about test efforts and capabilities, the 96th Cyberspace Test Group, Detachment 1, located here, hosts a virtual test workshop March 2. The event will be part of a quarterly series of workshops offered by the detachment, each with a different theme. This quarter’s theme is cybersecurity. “In the modern work environment, sharing knowledge and resources helps keep our personnel and weapons systems more secure and resilient in the face of modern cyber threats,” said Capt. John Davis, test engineer, 96th CTG, Det. 1. “With the growing prioritization of integrating cybersecurity early and often in the acquisitions process, this really is the perfect topic for our first workshop of 2021.” Joseph Bradley, director of the Cyber Resiliency Office for Weapon Systems and director of Engineering and Technical Management here, will kick off the event. Dr. Robert Tamburello, deputy director, National Cyber Range Complex, Charleston, S.C., Lt. Col. Jeremy Higbee, director of operations, 47th Test Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and Lt. Col. Darren Edmonds, director, Hanscom Collaboration and Innovation Center, will also provide updates on their organizations. “This workshop will be a great educational opportunity to learn about modern test resources and initiatives,” said Davis. “Our hope is that we can connect the acquisition community with the test community, enhance our relationships, and come together to share ideas.” All attendees must RSVP no later than Feb. 26 to participate. Slots are only available for military members and Department of Defense civilian employees and contractors. On the day of the workshop, attendees must log into CVR Microsoft Teams and access the meeting either via their calendar or the “HAFB 1st Qtr 2021 Test Workshop” Team channel. Opening remarks will begin at 1 p.m. The event is expected to conclude by 5 p.m. The 96th CTG Det. 1 is a geographically separated unit of the 96th Test Wing, located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
