Aerospace Vehicle Survivability Facility set to meet anticipated National Defense Strategy demands

The impact of a projectile on a fuel cell is assessed at the Aerospace Vehicle Survivability Facility (AVSF). The left side of the image shows the fluid spurt on the exterior of the fuel cell and the right side shows the corresponding internal cavitation. The AVSF is responsible for developing and executing aircraft live fire test and evaluation programs as well as research, development, test and evaluation in addition to high-fidelity modeling and simulation of aerospace vehicle combat survivability to evaluate and enhance system performance to current and future weapon systems under operationally-realistic conditions. The AVSF is operated by the Aerospace Survivability and Safety Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. This office is part of the 704th Test Group at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico.
