About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Weapons Safety Manager (NH-0018-03) to work at the 96 Test Wing Safety Office (96TW/SE) at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.
96TH TEST WING MISSION: We test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapon systems and cyberspace capabilities, provide quality installation and mission support, and serve as responsible stewards of our resources to deliver war-winning capabilities. The Primary Purpose of this position is to exercise first level supervisory and managerial authorities over the 96TW Weapons Safety Office and to manage the base-level weapons and explosives safety program for a complex multi-mission installation, involving diverse environmental, ground, aviation, construction, weapons and explosives activities and to provide advisory aircraft weapon system and explosives safety services to base and tenant organizations.

Typical 2026 salary range: $89,508 - $138,370 Per Year (includes Locality)
Travel Requirements: TDY approximately 10 days per year

Major Duties:
Exercises first-level supervision, managing personnel and planning work for the 96TW Weapons Safety Office.
Directs and manages the installation's comprehensive weapons and explosives safety program.
Develops and issues local instructions and procedures to establish technical and administrative safety requirements.
Performs periodic inspections, evaluations, and surveys of facilities, equipment, and operations to identify and correct safety deficiencies.
Evaluates complex, unconventional safety problems, determines risk, and implements methods for controlling or eliminating hazards.
Advises key commanders and managerial personnel on actions affecting weapons transportation, storage, and handling operations.
Represents the Weapon Safety Division, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide variety of installation and external organizations.
Directs and provides technical weapon safety training and instruction to commanders, supervisors, and employees.
Serves as an investigative board member or officer for formal weapons safety investigations, preparing and delivering detailed reports.
Reviews and analyzes complex explosive safety plans and construction projects to ensure regulatory compliance.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship

- Knowledge of complex weapons safety principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and current legislative issues as they relate to the military installation weapons safety program; the requirements, methods, and techniques of accident/mishap investigation, analysis, resolution of safety problems, and formal reporting procedures; and risk assessment methods and techniques for evaluation of weapons safety practices an risks.
- Knowledge of basic weapons safety and weapons handling standards, methods, practices, techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with regulations and standards.
- Knowledge of standard training techniques, methods, and materials sufficient to develop and present formal weapons safety training and instructional sessions.
- Skill in conducting mishap investigations; analyzing and evaluating hazardous conditions; preparing reports and recommendations and addressing risk assessment methods and techniques for weapons safety compliance.
