About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time SUPERVISORY RECREATION SPECIALIST (COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES)  (NH-0188-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Mission Support Group, 412th Force Support Squadron, Community Center (412FSS/FSW) at Edwards AFB. To contribute to readiness and improve productivity through Services programs that promote and enhance the wellness, morale, and quality of life for the entire Edwards community.

Location: Edwards  Air Force Base, CA

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490-$113,185 Per Year (includes Locality)

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD)

Desired Skills:

- 2 years of community center operations and large-scale event planning experience desired

- 2 years of travel, ticketing, and tour management experience desired

- 2 years of recreational program marketing and promotions experience desired

Major Duties:

- Supervises Community Center and ITT personnel, managing work schedules, leave, recruitment, and administrative actions.

- Oversees the planning, scheduling, and execution of a diverse monthly calendar of recreational activities and installation-wide events.

- Manages Information, Tickets, and Tours (ITT) programs and coordinates with the Air Force Ticketing Division for discount services.

- Maintains liaisons with civilian and military recreation leaders to exchange resources and coordinate activity schedules.

- Directs marketing efforts to publicize events and evaluates program effectiveness to recommend improvements.

- Encourages self-directed center activities and provides patrons with information on local base and off-base services.

- Forecasts supply and equipment requirements, manages procurement, and oversees facility and equipment maintenance.

- Develops plans and makes recommendations for new or upgraded facilities and equipment based on community needs.

- Prepares, reviews, and periodically updates detailed annual appropriated and non-appropriated fund budgets.

- Ensures comprehensive, ongoing training is completed for staff and volunteers to maintain a safe community program.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
