About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory General Engineer (NH-0801-04) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Test Engineering Group, 773rd Test Squadron, Performance & Flying Qualities (773rd TS/ENFA/B) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
The primary purpose is to perform as Flight Chief of one of the component flights within the 773 TS Flight Dynamics Squadron. This position serves as supervisor of technical personnel who may be assigned in support of various performance and flying qualities projects at the 412 TW. Additionally, this position has primary technical review responsibility over related test plans and technical reports and provides expert guidance in the above engineering disciplines. The incumbent also participates in the safety review process.

Typical 2025 salary range: $146,632 - $197,200 per year (includes Locality)

Desired Skills:
- 10+ years of test experience, 7+ years leading teams in a dynamic flight test environment.
- Demonstrated ability to author test, training, and personnel related documentation (e.g. technical reports, personnel evaluations, award nominations, white papers, instructions, training briefings, etc.).
- Eagerness to develop and lead engineers to meet mission requirements and advance USAF Warfighter capabilities.
Major Duties:
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities over 20-35 civilian and military personnel, plans work to be accomplished, and sets short/long-term priorities.
- Interviews candidates for positions; recommends appointments, promotions, or reassignments, and identifies developmental and training needs of employees.
- Develops and implements policies, performance goals, and management programs for the Flight, and formulates and executes policies related to the technical evaluation of weapons systems.
- Manages the cost, schedule, and performance of Flight activities, and exercises technical supervision over engineering and technical personnel to insure uniformity and adequacy in T&E.
- Maintains a core of technical expertise for Performance and Flying Qualities and manages the experience of the workforce through assignments consistent with their career goals and potential.
- Manages the engineering functions of the test process and develops or institutionalizes new test techniques and data analysis methods to keep pace with advancing technology.
- Sustains the AF Test Management Processes (planning, provisioning, executing, and reporting) and conducts technical reviews and supports safety and executability reviews of test plans.
- Prepares, administers, and reviews technical reports for completeness and accuracy, and represents the Flight at Squadron, Wing, and higher-level meetings with other test agencies and contractors.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- The employee must have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university. An advanced degree is desired.
- DAWIA Certification Test and Evaluation Advanced (within 24 months)
- Expert knowledge of flight and laboratory air vehicle/missile test conduct, coordination and supervision, data analysis/evaluation and applicable flight test truth sources, modeling and simulation, technical report preparation, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
- Strong ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various electronic/aerospace/mechanical engineering and test disciplines and coordinate with other Air Force, DOD, and other domestic and foreign government agencies.
- Strong ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
- Strong ability to maintain good working relations and to provide supervision and training to subordinate technical and clerical personnel as well as to provide technical leadership and project management oversight.
