About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Machinist, (WG-3414-09T11) to work at the 412th Wing, 412th Maintenance Group, 412th Maintenance Squadron, Fabrication flight, Metals Technology Section, (412 MXS/MXMFM) at Edwards Air Force Base.
To provide machinist craftsman expertise for the 412th Maintenance Squadron.
Announcement Length/Closes: 2 weeks
Location: Edwards AFB, CA
Typical 2025 salary range: $82,895 - $110,047 (including locality pay)
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible.
Areas of Consideration (AOC): Command – wide (AFMC)
Desired Skills:
- CNC machining experience preferred.
- Heat treating experience preferred.
- 3D printing experience desired.
- One year of machinist experience required. Show experience in resume.
Major Duties:
- Independently set up and operate a variety of machine shop equipment. (Lathes, jig, Vert/Horz milling machines.
- Provide practical design and engineering services using Computer Assisted Design (CAD), solid modeling, and level 2 CNC programming.
- Manufacture holding fixtures and other production aids for fastening work to various platforms.
- Develop and fabricate aircraft parts, aircraft modifications and items for support equipment.
- Perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices, procedures, and compliance with established safety rules and regulations.
- Maintains equipment records and documents maintenance actions.
Qualifications/Requirements:
-U.S. Citizenship-Obtain & maintain Security clearance.
-This is a designated Drug Testing Position.
-Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
-Valid driver's license required. (Must obtain and maintain government driver's license)
- Knowledge of a wide range of aerospace structural fabrication, repair, and metals technologies practices, principles, processes, standards, techniques, and related metal trades procedures.
- Knowledge of a variety of conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools.
- Knowledge of various metals such as aluminum, brass, bronze, high carbon and alloy steels, chrome, nickel, titanium, etc.
- Ability in interpreting drawings, blueprints, specifications, schedules, and instructions.
