About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Aircraft Pneudraulic System Mechanics (WG-8268-05T11) to work at the 412 Test Wing, 412 Maintenance Group, 412 Maintenance Squadron, Maintenance Flight (MXMX) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
The primary purpose of this position is: To install, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain standard and specialty modified aircraft fuel systems, hydrazine systems, subsystems, in-flight refueling (IFR) booms, external tanks, weapons pylons, tanks/cells and components on test aircraft. The fuel systems on these aircraft are uniquely designed and modified for use on test aircraft for research and development purposes.

Typical 2025 salary range: $28.75 - $52.73 per hour (includes locality)

Areas of Consideration:
Desired Skills:
- 2 years of experience in aircraft fuel system maintenance.
- 2 years of experience working in confined spaces.
- 1 year experience wearing self-contained breathing apparatus.
Major Duties:
- Must maintain fit test certification for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and airline (free-flow) Respirators.
- Skill in using and maintaining hand tools, power tools and special test equipment, work stands and aerospace powered/non-powered equipment.
- Must show the ability to interpret instructions and explain how to accomplish the work.
- Knowledge of F-l6 hydrazine systems, components, fault analysis, aircraft recovery and emergency spill/cleanup team procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot system anomalies and repair external tank, aircraft structural, bladder tank fuel leaks and remove/replace components.
- Knowledge of aircraft fuel systems work standards and how various aircraft systems interface with the primary fuel systems.
- Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to use and maintain equipment, power and hand tools.
- Ability to follow directions and work closely with others.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- Required to physically qualify for work in fuel cells and to pass annual physical exams.
- Required to possess a valid operator's license to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
- May be required to maintain a Government Travel Card.
- May be required to work rotating shifts or uncommon tours of duty.
- Subject to call back to meet emergency situations.
- Required to wear ear protectors to eliminate engine noise, protective respirators, and equipment due to exposure to toxic fumes from fuel, hydrazine, sealant, and cleaning solvents.
- Knowledge of a wide range of model design series military lighter, heavy and commercial type aircraft fuel system repairs, modification working principals, processes, and difficult techniques.
- Knowledge of aircraft fuel systems work standards and how various aircraft systems interface with the primary fuel systems.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing terminology, data, standards, and instructions, and relate them properly to the particular aircraft fuels repair, maintenance and modifications. Ability to use, read and understand drawings, blueprints, specifications, instructions and technical orders.
