About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time General Engineer (Network) (NH-0801-02T03) to work at the 412 Test Wing, 412 Test Engineering Group (TENG), 412 Range Squadron Engineering (412 RANS/ENREX) at Edwards AFB, CA.

The mission of 412 RANS Engineering is to serve as the sustainment flight for all Range Squadron systems. The flight is responsible for managing all Range Squadron test system support and accomplishing long and short-range internal project support planning. The Flight also develops, engineers and tests new systems to satisfy new requirements generated by Range Squadron customers and AFTC Leadership. The Range Squadron is committed to satisfying customer needs, reducing costs, improving mission turnaround time, providing adequate resources and assets, enabling people to excel, sustaining technological superiority, improving quality of life issues, and increasing throughput using best business practices.

Typical 2024 salary range: $46,000 - $156,323 (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Desired Skills:
- 2 years of hands-on experience in computer networking, including configuring network switches (i.e., Juniper and Cisco).
- 2 years of experience in configuring operating systems (i.e., Windows, Linux).
- 2 years of experience in using drafting and design tools (i.e., Auto Cad).

Major Duties:
- Performs professional engineering duties such as requirements gathering, design, testing, upgrade, and deployment of Range information technology (IT) and computer systems to support Test and Evaluation (T&E) at Edwards AFB and other DOD ranges. Coordinates new engineering projects with internal Range subject matter experts, configuration management office, engineers, technicians, customers, and leadership. Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior personnel and serves as team leader of groups engaged in large or complex tasks. Uses systems engineering principles, designs solutions and commits resources within the limits previously established by management to meet customer requirements.
- Serves as a Range Squadron, Test Engineering Group and Air Force Test Center authority in the optimal application of Range Squadron computing, data transport and IT resources to best satisfy program requirements. Analyzes test data to determine the accuracy and reliability of theoretical results. Serves as an expert in Range system physical architecture and operations.
- Performs sophisticated system analysis and requirements validation to provide solutions for unique aerospace test vehicle programs and other requesters of Range Squadron processing capabilities. Prepares detailed hardware and software operations support proposals, including design schedule, data flow path, training plan, system configuration, test and evaluation plan, quality control methodologies and resource estimates. Coordinates these tasks and milestones with Air Force managers and appropriate functional area managers.

- DAWIA Certification: Test and Evaluation, Practitioner
- Occasional travel/TDY may be required for remote site work, attendance of professional conferences/meetings, training, and participation in professional activities (Range Commanders Council, technical workshops/exchange meetings).
- Ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing on technical issues, results, requirements, accomplishments, program status and project financial status.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining productive professional relationships with co-workers, customers and leadership possessing widely varying levels of technical/organizational aptitude.
