About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center (AFTC), 96 Test Wing is seeking a Full-Time Electronics Engineer (NH-0855-04) to serve as the Technical Director for the 96th Range Group, 96th Range Support Squadron (96 RANSS) at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.
The purpose of this position is to serve as 96 RANSS Technical Director with responsibilities to develop, acquire and integrate instrumentation systems; provide range assets, target/threat assets, engineering, technical management and range/facility configuration control required to provide and ensure airborne/range/facility resources are available to conduct armament, C4I, and EW test, evaluation, and training in support of current and future TW mission requirements. As Technical Director, you will play a significant role in leading teams of technical experts in the development, configuration, modernization, operation, and sustainment of the Eglin Test and Training Complex (ETTC) range and range infrastructure as well as advocating for improvements of those infrastructure assets, both technically and financially, at the local, Air Force, and DoD levels. These capabilites support both weapon/sensor systems test and training activities across the entire Eglin Test and Training Complex (ETTC) and the Eglin Gulf Test and Training Range (EGTTR).

Desired Skills:
Knowledge in applying multidisciplinary engineering principles and advanced theories.
Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures.
Knowledge of development engineering methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon system testing.
Knowledge of Test and Evaluation processes.
Knowledge of workforce recruitment and development.

Major Duties:
- Serves as the Range Support Squadron Technical Director, responsibile for leading the development and operations of highly technical instrumentation systems, range assets, target/threat assets, and range/facility configuration control required to provide and ensure airborne/range/facility resources are available to conduct armament, C4I, and EW test, evaluation, and training in support of current and future TW mission requirements. As Technical Director, you will play a significant role in leading teams of technical experts in the development, configuration, modernization, operation, and sustainment of the Eglin Test and Training Complex (ETTC) range and range infrastructure as well as advocating for improvements of those infrastructure assets, both technically and financially, at the local, Air Force, and DoD levels. These capabilites support both weapon/sensor systems test and training activities across the entire Eglin Test and Training Complex (ETTC) and the Eglin Gulf Test and Training Range (EGTTR).
Serves as the Squadron Technical Lead with project management, systems engineering and Test and Evaluation (T&E) expertise to deliver superior test cpabilties for ETTC/EGTTR stakeholders.
Leads and supports extensive interactions with other organizations inside and outside the 96th Test Wing enterprise regarding test capabilties, processes, policies, and procedures.
Builds and extends multifunctional coalitions and partnerships to achieve enterprise-wide goals and lead strategic change as the ETTC/EGTTR evolves to become more agile to meet the Range of the Future 2035 vision.
Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principals, practices, standards, methods, and techniques.
Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD and Air Force.
Knowledge of and skill in evaluating state-of-the-art and advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy..

- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
- Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as computer, electronics, or mechanical engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
- A master's degree in a technical related field is highly desired.
- Positions designated as an acquisition position: Positions are covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) and the employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
