About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time TSPI Flight Chief (NH-0801,1550,1520-04) to work at 412 Test Wing, 412 Test Engineering Group (TENG), 412 Range Squadron (RANS) at Edwards Air Force Base, California.

The squadrons within the 412th Test Engineering Group provide engineering and business support to the Test and Evaluation (T&E) mission of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC) and the 412th Test Wing (TW). This includes the infrastructure to administer the respective squadrons. The 412th Range Squadron manages the 412 TW range complex and all personnel and equipment assets that comprise the range instrumentation array, range control systems and scientific computer systems. The 412th Range Squadron accomplishes intra and inter-range interface, coordination and control to satisfy multiple-service flight test mission requirements. This flight provides technical expertise, advanced testing planning with customers, infrastructure planning and management, and operational support inside control rooms and post-flight. It also leads the Range Squadron in developing and supporting all TSPI resources across the 412 TW.

Typical 2024 salary range: $142,094 – 191,900 (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"\

Desired Skills:
- 5+ years of Range Experience desired
- 10 years of flight test experience desired
- Experience with Human Capital Strategy Development, Implementation and Execution.
- The primary purpose is to serve in the Range Squadron (412 RANS) as a Flight Chief of the Time-Space Position Information Flight. The position provides expertise and consultation in support of TSPI Systems in support of ground and flight test. This has primary responsibility over and provides guidance in the TSPI Engineering, software development, mission support and maintenance subject areas. The incumbent also is a critical member of the Range Squadron Paypool.

Major Duties:
- Provides a Human Capital Strategy across the flight, integrating recruiting and hiring, individual development plans, training plans and career paths/tracks.
- Development of advanced concepts of automation and information processing coupled with research into Time-Space Position Information as applied to the test community.
- Evaluates emerging computer technologies against current and future business needs taking into consideration current resources.
- Collaborates with the other Range Flight Chiefs and external organizations on related problems with solid innovative solutions.

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- For candidates qualifying for this position as an engineer, a professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required
- Expert knowledge of advanced computer science concepts, principles and techniques across multiple interrelated and integrated technical and test disciplines integrated with Time-Space Position Information (TSPI)
- Demonstrated leadership experience in planning, organizing, and directing functions and mentoring, motivating, and appraising the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors, supporting the Range Vision and Mission
- Expert knowledge of flight and laboratory air vehicle test conduct, coordination and supervision, data analysis/evaluation and applicable flight test truth sources, and overall application of data products to flight test programs in support of related technical reports
