About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory Computer Scientist (NH-1550-03) to work at the 412 Test Wing, Electronic Warfare Group, 445 Test Squadron/EWJI at Nellis Air Force Base, NV.

This position manages the Digital Test & Training Range - Nellis (DTTR-N) Integration Team (EWJI-OL) that includes systems administrators, network analysts, and software developers. The individual will apply systems integration & networking expertise to develop, configure, and sustain high fidelity modeling and simulation (mod/sim) systems that support High End Advanced Tactics, Training & Test (HEAT3) and Developmental and Operational Test & Evaluation (DT&E and OT&E) programs. These mod/sim systems consist of computer networks with digital and analog processors, cockpit displays and controls, mechanical and electrical interfaces, and re-hosted operational flight program software. This software includes algorithms for navigation, flight controls, energy & propulsion management, communications, sensor operations, target search/acquisition/imaging/identification/engagement, and ordnance delivery.

Typical 2024 salary range: $88,756 - $137,209 (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"

Desired Skills:
- 3 years of experience as a senior computer programmer -- required.
- 2 years of experience in test and evaluation -- desired
- 2 years of experience integrating virtual and constructive simulations onto a digital battlespace -- desired
- 1 year of experience working with the Joint Simulation Environment – desired

Major Duties:
- Serves as the 445 Test Squadron Network & Systems Integration Lead at Operating Location Nellis. Supervises a team of software engineers and system & network administrators for the Digital Test and Training Range – Nellis (DTTR-N).
- Plans work to be accomplished by integration team (to include contractors and govt civilians); sets and adjusts short& long-term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.
- Reports on virtual simulator operational readiness in the areas of flight science, performance, mission systems, avionics, and flight control systems. Establishes checkout procedures to verify proper simulator functionality in a synthetic battlespace.
- Prepares technical documentation of simulator development and operation which describe, in detail, mechanization techniques, new or unique software algorithms, operations procedures, configuration control; presents test results; draws conclusions and makes recommendations.
- Performs technical work using classified information in various media and formats. Applies technical and safety review processes to mitigate risks and to ensure technical adequacy.
- Develops, prioritizes, and reports on organization performance goals and objectives.

- Education requirements (Check OPM Qualifications Standard and Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR))
- DAWIA Certification: T&E Practitioner w/in 5 yrs
- Subject to TDY approximately 30 days per year
- Must have ability to program in C++, C#, JAVA, SQL. Familiarity with LINUX and WINDOWS Operating Systems required.
- SECURITY+ Certification (or IAT Level 2 Equivalent) Required w/in 1 year.
- Must have ability to integrate/manipulate models and design/implement distributed computer networks for virtual and constructive simulation of air vehicle navigation, flight controls, energy & propulsion management, communications, sensor operations, command & control, and target engagement.
- Must have knowledge of concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple interrelated technical and test disciplines to include one or more of the following: high-performance aircraft flight sciences, avionics, armament, electronic warfare systems, command & control systems, Cyber, Space & 10 capabilities, datalinks, and related subsystems.
- Must have ability to collaborate at a technical level with engineers and subject matter experts from various disciplines, to include computer, software, network, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, and flight test; ability to inform squadron, group & wing management on cost, schedule, & performance; support (and sometimes present) briefs to division leads from USAF, USN, other DOD components, as well as to other domestic and foreign government agencies.
- Must have general knowledge of one or more of the following platform types: combat air vehicles, RF/IR sensors, weapons; experience working in some or all of following Test & Evaluation disciplines: flight test conduct, coordination and supervision, data collection, reduction, storage, analysis & evaluation procedures, application of flight test truth sources, use of modeling and simulation systems and techniques, generation of technical reports, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
