The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full Time Term Engineering Technician (Aerospace) (GS-0802-12) to work at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), at the 704th Test Group (704 TG), Aerospace Survivability and Safety Office (704 TG/OL-AC) at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton ,OH.

Telework Information:

This position has a typical 2024 salary range of $90,178 - $117,227 (includes locality).

Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate:
- 2 years of experience in live fire test range safety
- 2 years of experience with munition / explosive handling
- 2 years of experience in facility management
- 2 years of operations and maintenance contract management / oversight

Mission/Purpose:
The 704 TG/OL-AC conducts research, development, test and evaluation, and modeling and simulation of aerospace vehicle combat survivability, vulnerability reduction, and landing gear systems to enhance and evaluate system performance of today’s and tomorrow's weapon systems. The 704 TG/OL-AC is also the designated test organization for developing and executing Title 10 USC Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) programs for acquisition program offices. The purpose of the position is to accomplish range safety, test, maintenance, engineering, and operations and maintenance contractual oversight support for the Aerospace Survivability and Safety Office. The position supports test operations and conducts efforts to determine the survivability and/or vulnerability of aircraft systems and involves munitions and explosives handling.

Major Duties:
- Oversees the operations and maintenance contract functions of the Aerospace Vehicle Survivability Facility, assuring test activities are tracked and performed according to applicable health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Enforces test range safety and security protocols of all phases of programs, ensuring test missions are defined and executed in accordance with all facility operating instructions, standards, certifications, and permits.
- Supports live-fire test and evaluation with safe handling and control of munitions and explosives, ensuring full compliance and accountability of weapons accounts.
- Continuously assesses and advises on emerging test technologies to resolve technical issues, reduce test costs, and improve facility processes or capabilities in support of mission requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain and maintain a Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- Combination of education and experience furnishing an understanding of principles and technologies applicable to aerospace or mechanical engineering.
- Job related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
o Knowledge in munitions and explosive handling, including downloading and reloading. Knowledge of gunfire test procedures, test equipment and test methodologies. Knowledge of safety procedures and equipment used in large caliber weapon gun range operations. Knowledge of foreign munitions, weapons, and explosives is also highly desired.
o Knowledge of engineering concepts, methods, principles, practices, and techniques; familiarity with engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical structural, utilities, etc.).
o Knowledge of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles and surveying methods, equipment, and techniques of measurements to identify project requirements.
o Ability to plan and record site/facility and inspections.
o Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.
