Supervisory Instructional Systems Specialist (STARBASE Director)

The Air Force Civilian Service is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory Instructional Systems Specialist (NH-1750-03) to work at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), at the 412th Test Wing, STARBASE, at Edwards AFB in Edwards, CA.

This position has a typical 2022 salary range of $91,254 - $141,064 (includes locality).

Telework Information:
• This position is Situational Telework Eligible (must reside in the local area) for UP TO a maximum of 80% of the time. Amount of telework time and telework schedule will be at the discretion of the Selecting Official and implemented after entrance on duty.

In this position you will provide innovative and dynamic support to personnel, MWR, family support, workforce development and resources to the Edwards AFB community. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate site operations of the STARBASE program and to supervise a STEM education program for elementary/middle school children in the local area, where the paramount qualification requirement is a combination of practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of instruction and practical knowledge of program management. This position reports to the Deputy Director, 412th Test Wing Plans and Programs.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- A Master's, EDS or Doctorate's degree in Education Administration or a Master's degree with a minimum of 20 semester hours of graduate credit in School Administration, Curriculum Development, and Supervision of Instruction
- Must provide copies of official Bachelor's and Master's transcripts (include EDS and Doctorate's if applicable).
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 10 days per year.

- Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, and teaching techniques of STEM curriculum for K-12. Skill in applying this knowledge to designing, evaluating, or revising lessons, materials, aids, methods, etc
- Skill in applying knowledge where changing or new circumstances affect specific situations and require approaches or adjustments in methods from those in existence.
- Knowledge and skill to develop a substantial amount of STEM information and produce original material incorporating different developments, approaches or specialized fields of knowledge.
- Knowledge and skill to serve as a resource consultant and advisor to program administrators and subject matter personnel.
- Skill in providing advice, guidance, and authoritative consultant services throughout the organization on matters pertaining to the specialty field.
- Knowledge of cost-estimating procedures in order to estimate cost for program operations and classroom curriculum delivery.
- Knowledge of instructional techniques in an elementary and/or middle school setting at the level of eligibility for teacher certification. Knowledge of local school district operations and procedures in order to provide a more cooperative working relationship.
- Knowledge of management skills needed to successfully operate a STARBASE program.
- Knowledge of effective Marketing Skills needed to better promote the STARBASE program in the local community, military base, and school districts.
